The Montessori Way of Requesting a Peaceful Conversation About Something That is Not Working
Montessori teachers are trained to guide students in using the Peace Rose method of child-led conflict resolution.
When children argue, one can take the peace rose and offer it to the other student. This prompts a conversation in a specific format where each child can hear the other's story and they can work together to find a resolution.
Our group's intention is to offer the peace rose to the administration, to the district, and to the Board of Education. We hope to keep a productive peaceful conversation going until we are all working together, instead of at odds, to fully support the Montessori program, the students, and teachers at GW Elementary.
