The Montessori program at GW turned a struggling school around, was great for our diverse community of learners, and produced TOP DISTRICT RESULTS in Math and Language in a study that followed students over time.

But, after founding Principal Val retired, the district stopped giving Montessori the support it promised to continue. Some classrooms were no longer Montessori and performance tumbled, becoming uneven from one room to another.

Despite the district's 2023 promises to recommit to the program, at the end of every school year, families find the administration taking steps to disband, gut, defund, or cut staffing for the Montessori program over the summer.

Taxpayers & GW families say:

"Please don't kill Montessori at GW. Please restore equitable funding to our school and fulfill district promises to support a program with proven success for our diverse population."
